Public Records

The City Clerk acts as the City of Omak Public Records Officer.  It is the role of the Public Records Officer to provide public access to current, as well as historical, documents.  The City of Omak provides access to public records under the provisions of the Washington State Public Records Act (RCW 42.56).

All records are available for public inspection unless specifically exempted by law.   You are entitled to access public records, under reasonable conditions, and copies of those records can be provided upon paying the cost for copying.

How to submit a Public Records Request

To submit a Public Records Request for both Omak Police Department Records and other city departments you can either download the document online or one of the following other ways:

How the City will Respond to a Records Request

The City will respond to a request for public records within five business days of receipt (RCW 42.56.520).

The City will respond by either:

A. Making the records available for inspection or copying.

B. If copies are requested payment of a deposit for the copies, if any, is made or terms of payment are agreed upon, send the copies to the requestor.

C. Provide a reasonable estimate of when records will be available.

D. If the requested records, request clarification from the requestor. Such clarification may be requested and provided by telephone. The public records officer or designee may revise the estimate of when records will be available

E. Deny the request.
