Message from the Chief of Police

Chief’s Message:

Welcome to the City of Omak Police Department. I am proud and honored to serve as Chief of Police. Thank you, Mayor Gagné for your trust.

I have been serving as a peace officer since 1992 where I started with the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office.  I have worked for a few agencies over the years holding several leadership positions and roles.  I came to Omak in March of 2021, and I am committed to leading our peace officers for the City of Omak.  I am a veteran of the United States Army, and I am a 5th generation resident of Okanogan County.  I hold strong ties to Omak and appreciate the opportunity to guide, direct, and train our officers and support staff.

The Omak Police Department has always been a guidon for our area law enforcement, and I intend to create a leadership model that encourages excellence.  We are The Heart of the Okanogan, and with a strong vision, mission, and purpose we are committed to providing the best service that our resources allow for.

Navigating some significant law changes and maintaining our staffing levels is very important during these times.  We have been tasked to re-envision law enforcement.  I hope to capitalize on these new strategies and funding sources to improve our service delivery.  I am also focused on providing our police department with excellent safety equipment as we are the commercial center of the county and the size of our population of residents does not include our daily use population.  Finding pathways to create relationships is a priority.

I am always looking for great ideas so feel free to contact me by phone or email.

Respectfully, Chief Daniel Jens Christensen
