CODE ENFORCEMENT/ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER

 

The City of Omak is now accepting applications for a Code Enforcement/Animal Control Officer to establish a current eligibility list. Testing will consist of completion of an application and an Oral Review Board interview. There is no physical ability test required. Your test score will determine final placement on the eligibility list. Vacancies are filled by Civil Service “rule of three” with the top three candidates forwarded to the appointing authority for background investigation & selection. The City of Omak will have one (1) vacancy.

The City of Omak Code Enforcement/Animal Control position provides services to all areas within our city limits. This position is under the direct supervision of the Chief of Police. This officer receives a limited commission from the Chief of Police. This employee will have the opportunity to attend and complete the Washington State Criminal Justice Commission’s “Animal Control Officer’s Academy.”  This is a two-week course held in Burien, WA.

This position requires the applicant to be at least 21 years of age, have a High School Diploma or it is equivalency. A college degree is preferred but not required. The applicant must have a valid Washington State driver's license and no felony charges. The City of Omak is a drug free workplace.

This Civil Service position has a current salary range between $45,934.88 and $65,524.54 depending upon experience with a six (6) month probationary period. The working day/hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm with the option of a 9/80 work schedule.

The city offers paid medical/dental/vision coverage for employees and generous assistance in the cost of family coverage. The City also pays for nominal life insurance policy. As an employee you will participate in the Washington State retirement (PERS) program, with an option of their Deferred Compensation Program.

The City of Omak will provide the uniform and equipment.
