1-Hour Free Instructional/Practice:

Pickleball with the Police is an engagement opportunity for community members to intermingle with local law enforcement in a fun and interactive way. Pickleball with the Police will begin with a FREE 1-hour instructional/practice led by one of Omak Police Departments top pickleball players: Susie Ortiz! Susie spent 28 years of service as a 911 dispatcher with the Sheriff's Office and most recently transitioned to OPD's Records Clerk while remaining on reserve for dispatch.

This event was inspired by Susie's love for pickleball and pups!

Challenge Court Games:

Following the free instructional/practice for new pickleball players there will be an opportunity to test out your skills by signing up in our 'Pickleball with the Police' Challenge Court Games! Participants will register as Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced and grouped accordingly. Participants can register with a partner or request to be assigned a partner the day of the event (all games played will be doubles).

What is a Challenge Court Format?

The Challenge Court Format will allow up to 12 teams (24 total players) to play at once.  Mini games will be 8 minutes long with 2 minutes in between rounds for one hour (6 total games). The winning teams will move up a court and the losing teams will move down towards the bottom courts. More information on how challenge games work will be explained the day of the event.

*There are no winners or losers! Everyone who participates is there to participate in good natured pickleball fun!

Okanogan Angels Silent Auction:

In addition to our 'Pickleball with the Police' event we have invited the Okanogan Angels non-profit dog rescue to assist in managing a Silent Auction where ALL proceeds will go towards assisting their efforts in caring for lost and abandoned dogs that have been picked up from roaming our streets. The Okanogan Angels work closely with the Omak Police Department Code Enforcement to finding suitable foster placements for animals picked up in city limits. Community members are welcome to participate in the Silent Auction without being registered to play in the Challenge games.

Lunch:

Refuel and spend time getting to know your local law enforcement! The pickleball courts will be available for practice.
